WST Learning Community Lunches

WST Lrn C students are encouraged to attend informal lunch discussions with  various faculty and staff members. These lunches are intended to educate WST students about campus resources, opportunities, professional development, as well as establish student faculty relationships. Lunch is provided, free of charge, by the WST program.

Space is limited for these lunches. Please RSVP to Christine Flaherty to attend. Christine can also be contacted for more information or to make recommendations regarding potential lunch guests. To be put on the WST Lrn C listserv, please contact Carol Colatrella.


WST lunches will be held in the Ferst Place dining room, which is located on the third floor of the Student Center.

 

FALL 2007
Friday, September  21, 2007; 11 am - Dr. Laura Bier, an HTS Professor, will discuss the role of women in Islamic Cultures.

Friday, October  5, 2007; 12 pm - Dr. Carlee Bishop, a senior researcher at GTRI, will discuss her experiences serving in the military as an Air Force Pilot.

Thursday, October 11, 2007; 11 am - Kathleen Kurre, a visiting scholar in the College of Management, will discuss leadership and entrepreneurship.
CANCELED -- Friday, October 19, 2007; 11 am - Dr. Jennifer Fortner, a Doctor at Georgia Tech's Psychiatry Clinic, will discuss her transition from an aerospace engineering undergraduate education to a career in medicine.
Tuesday, November 6, 2007; 11 am - Gail Evans, a visiting professor in the College of Management, will discuss her experiences on the staff of President Lyndon B. Johnson as well as working as an Executive Vice President for CNN. Gail has authored two best selling books and currently teaches a Gender & Ethnicity course at Georgia Tech.

SPRING 2008

Wednesday, January 23, 2008; 11 am - Dr. Carol Colatrella, an HTS Professor,  will discuss how women are portrayed in the media.
Tuesday, February 19, 2008; 11 am - Dr. Mimi Philobos, a CEE professor and the director of the Women in Engineering program, will be discussing women pursuing traditionally male dominated fields like science and engineering.
CANCELED -- Tuesday, February 26, 2008; 11:30 am - Dr. Barbara Boyan, a BME professor, will be discussing opportunities in the biological sciences and engineering as well as undergraduate research.
Wednesday, March 26, 2008; 12 pm - Dr. Roberta Berry, a public policy professor and a lawyer, will be discussing law school and the potential career paths of attorneys. 
Friday, April 4, 2008; 12 pm - Dr. Jennifer Fortner, a Doctor at Georgia Tech's Psychiatry Clinic, will discuss her transition from an aerospace engineering undergraduate education to a career in medicine as well as her experience in medical school.
Monday, April 14, 2008; 12 pm - Dr. Adjo Amekudzi, a CEE professor, will discuss her tips for meeting with success.
